Volker Strobel is a postdoctoral researcher at IRIDIA, the AI research laboratory of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. In his research, he focuses on security aspects inherent to robot swarms. In particular, he investigates how blockchain technology, originally developed for the decentralized currency Bitcoin, can be employed among robots for secure coordination and communication. His research career began in 2014, when he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Cognitive Science at the University of Tübingen, Germany, followed in 2016 by an M.Sc. degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands. During his M.Sc. studies, he was a guest student in Computer Science at TU Delft, Netherlands, where he also completed his M.Sc. thesis. In 2022, he completed his Ph.D. in Engineering Sciences at IRIDIA under the supervision of Prof. Marco Dorigo.
