Antonin Descampe is Assistant Professor at the Louvain School of journalism (EjL) and Researcher at the Observatory for Research on Media and journalism (ORM), within UCLouvain, Belgium. He holds a Master degree (2003) and a Ph.D. (2008), both in Electrical Engineering, from the same university. He also holds a Master degree in Telecommunications from the Ecole Centrale Paris (ECP), France. During his PhD and post-doctoral research, he worked in the field of machine learning and image processing. In this context, he co-founded intoPIX, a provider of image and video compression solutions and became project leader in several international standardization committees (JPEG, MPEG, SMPTE). From 2016 to 2020, he was guest lecturer at the Louvain School of Communication. His research interests concern the automated processing of multimodal data, both in its use as innovative computational methods in the social sciences, and as a factor of change in media organizations. He joined the ORM in 2020 where he is in charge of research on AI in the media and journalistic context.
