Karim El Khoury received the B.E. degree in electrical engineering from the Lebanese American University (LAU), Lebanon, in 2017 and received the M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Universite catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium, in 2019. As part of his master thesis work, he explored aspects of improved motion estimation through sensor-aided block matching for inter-frame video compression algorithms.
He is currently working towards the Ph.D. degree on Lightweight Compression and Detection Algorithms for High-Resolution Video Streams as part of Prof. Benoit Macq's Pixels and interactions LAB (PiLAB) in UCLouvain's institute of Information and Communication Technologies, Electronics and Applied Mathematics (ICTEAM). His work was previously funded by the WALInnov project TrustEye in collaboration with intoPIX S.A. He is currently under a Teaching Assistant fellowship at the Ecole Polytechnique de Louvain.
